Information used by The Alley Wall
The Alley Wall uses a long-lived anonymous cookie, timestamps, contribution metadata and abuse-prevention signals. A server-only secret converts network addresses and anonymous identifiers into one-way HMAC hashes for cooldown and moderation checks. Raw IP addresses are not stored in the Wall database.
Public contributions
Submitted strokes, selected wall, brush settings and submission time become public. The public interface does not display network data, cookies, identifier hashes or personal account details.
Unpublished local drafts
While you create, the browser may store your selected wall, drawing elements, tools, colors, view settings, wall revision and last-update time in IndexedDB for draft recovery. Unpublished drafts normally expire after approximately seven days and are cleared after successful submission or confirmed discard. They do not contain API keys, raw network addresses or administrator credentials.
Cooldown and security
Hashed network and anonymous-cookie identifiers are checked to enforce the hourly allowance, limit spam, investigate reports and block abuse. Short-lived operational server logs may still contain standard request information for security and reliability.
Cookies and external services
The Wall’s anonymous cookie is necessary for contribution limits. This site does not use advertising cookies. Links to SentX, X and community platforms lead to independent services with their own privacy practices.
Retention and moderation
Contribution history, reports and moderation actions may be retained to preserve the shared artwork and prevent abuse. Public contributions may be hidden or removed and are not guaranteed to remain displayed permanently.
Updates
This notice may change as the Wall develops. Last updated: 25 July 2026.
